Title: The Wife Between Us
Author: Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
Publication Date: January 09, 2018
There has been a lot buzz about The Wife Between Us for months even going so far as calling it one of the best thrillers of 2018 and it has not even come out yet.
At the start of the book it appears to be a simple story of a jealous ex-wife stalking her newly engaged ex-husband. Vanessa clearly has a drinking problem, has trouble sleeping, and is having a hard time holding her job at Saks. Richard, on the other hand, has his perfect new replacement wife-to-be, with his perfect job, apartment in the city, and big beautiful home in the suburbs. Things, however, may not be entirely as they seem.
This story is told in alternating perspective between Vanessa and the replacement wife, Nellie. As the story slowly unfolds we see that Vanessa is determined to stop their wedding by any means necessary.
In the end I found this story to be engaging and enjoyable. It is told in three distinct parts, each of which set to expose different parts of the plot. I did not find the plot as twisty and suspenseful as others seem to have. I did find not much throughout the plot that really struck me a major plot twist with the exception of the ending, which I did not see coming. That being said, I did enjoy the story, but with so much hype surrounding it I went into it expecting it be more suspenseful. I would like to read more from these author in the future.
A big thank you to St. Martin Press and BookishFirst of the ARC of book.
